More About the Role

You will be responsible for developing, evolving, and executing Svitzer’s decarbonisation strategy. This includes ensuring sustainability is integrated across our business, overseeing a global project portfolio, and representing Svitzer externally in partnerships and industry forums. You will be the focal point for both internal stakeholders and external partners on our path to net zero.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and evolve Svitzer’s decarbonisation strategy in line with business goals, regulations, and customer expectations.

  • Act as the internal and external focal point for our climate transition agenda.

  • Integrate sustainability into operational and commercial activities globally.

  • Identify and develop new sustainable business models and offerings.

  • Build organisational capabilities to deliver on decarbonisation ambitions.

  • Lead compliance with key regulatory frameworks (CSRD, ESG, EU ETS, IMO).

  • Oversee the global decarbonisation project portfolio and ensure effective implementation.

  • Represent Svitzer in external partnerships, alliances, and industry working groups.

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for a visionary yet hands-on leader who can drive complex change in a global organisation.

You will bring:

  • A Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Business, or similar (preferred).

  • Advanced knowledge of sustainability, decarbonisation, and energy transition—ideally from maritime, transport, or heavy industry.

  • Strategic leadership experience across functions such as operations, commercial, and regulatory.

  • Strong knowledge of CSRD, ESG, EU ETS, and IMO’s Net Zero Framework.

  • Proven track record in strategy execution, project delivery, and stakeholder engagement.

  • Skills in sustainability reporting, decarbonisation modelling, and project management.

  • Advantageous experience in commercialising green solutions and innovation scouting.

  • Personal qualities such as resilience, customer focus, and strong collaboration and influencing skills.
